I am back

Although the move isn't completely finished yet i am back. I still finishing up the cleaning of the old house and moving the last few bits over.

I do now have my broadband live in my new house!!! I am so happy about that, i have really missed it, the mobile is ok but rather limiting in what i can do.
I am looking forward to catching up with the blogs i follow and writing my own again. The adventures of training our new puppy, how the unpacking is going and the landscaping of my huge garden. I have some pictures but not uploaded to laptop yet so they will form the basis of a post on their own. I will then aim to do before and after pictures of the changes i make in the garden.

In the meantime, i look forward to entertaining you all once again. Many thanks for reading, and for your patience while i have been off line.

Puppy's help

I wasn't intending to write a post today but was inspired to by Yoda.
He's my 16 week old long coat chihuahua.

He's been with the family for 5 days and has settled in well. I was going to save writing a post until i had a few more pictures to post, but as i was borrowing my mum's laptop to check my mail he has been trying to help. He's been licking the the keys, and had his paws all over the mouse pad making it very hard to type and add anything to my pages . Every time i move him he moves back and puts part of himself on the keyboard.

Review of: The Sound and the Echoes by Dew Pellucid

The Sound and the Echoes, YA novel

The Sound and the Echoes

This book had be gripped right from the start. The author has hit upon a topic that i have not even considered before and made it sound realistic. Although a fantasy story, if you have a belief in alternate realities this is something that you will be able to connect with. It is not a story i can easily describe, but i will say this. I dare you to read this and not enjoy it.
I give this book my maximum of 5 out of 5.

The book is available from Amazon, and the official page for it is bellow. http://thesoundandtheechoes.com/

Moving

Its been a hard slog but i have almost finished moving. Its been something i have done with help from my wonderful mum and a fab friend of ours who came over from Brighton with his van. We had a very wet but busy day moving things out of one house and into my new one.

There is still a long way to go as there are still a few things to move and then the massive clear up in the old house before i hand the keys back at the end of this month.

Then i will have the huge task of finding homes for everything in the new house. I already have the problem where some of my furniture won't fit into the rooms where they used to. I will have to do some juggling around and probably get rid of some of my bits and pieces. This is no bad thing as i will admit i have too many things and no real need for them.

Until then i am without Internet at the new house and am not getting on the laptop very much to update things. So bear with me a while longer and i will update this space with everything that has been happening, some things have been very exciting and i can't wait to upload pictures and tell all.

Almost out of time

My deadline of friday is looming and typically i was ill all of today.

The quilt is almost finished but needs it finishing touches, and i need to be able to concentrate and be accurate.

The house is still not even half boxed up!

I woke this morning to a huge headache- no idea why but it made me feel bad all day. All i wanted to was to be able to get up and carry on, but no despite 3 lots of tablets here i am updating with a headache. I am still in bed. I managed to drag myself to Tesco's as we almost had no toilet roll at all. Then picked son up from free style and came straight back to bed.

Tomorrow will be sorting things for Sundays BBQ for friends 30th and hopefully finishing the quilt.

Oh well, time to get a juice and back to lying down. I've reached my limit for the time being.

Review of:- Click: An Online Love Story by Lisa Becker

View cover photo.jpg in slide show Description by the author:-  Click: An Online Love Story - Fast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click: An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles. The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online. From the guy who starts every story with "My buddies and I were out drinking one night," to the egotistical “B”celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with BCC's, FWD's and inadvertent Reply to All's, readers will root for Renee to "click" with the right man.

My Review:-

A very modern version of a love story, in this day and age when more and more people are finding love on-line it is also very relevant. As a romantic myself I'm a sucker for a good love story. I found myself laughing along to the women's conversations via e-mail and thinking to myself its the sort of conversations i have on occasions.
I did however find the dates and times hard to follow as i tended not to read that part, i generally skip the chapter headings too and then wonder what is going on. As a result of that i found myself getting irritated.
Concerning the general story i found it very easy to get swept up with it and found myself still reading at 1 am on a couple of occasions- not something i intended. I found the story flowed very well and the writing style was easy to follow. I wasn't keen on the swearing, but accept that it is part of the modern day language. I liked the fact that the author also included things from a male perspective and had the main male friend also signing up to an on-line dating agency.

Overall a lighthearted read, very good for a holiday, or escape from day to day life.

My rating a 4/5

Dragonscale Leggings by Freya Pickard

A YA Fantasy story about a Teenage girl who finds herself in a strange land with Knights and Dragons.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect of this book especially when i saw the front cover. I did wonder what the potatoe peeler had to do with dragons and Knights. The story itself unfolds slowly with a quirky sense of humour, the mix of the olde worldie way of life and language and the modern viewpoint of the trapped girl is a good combination. I found the ending a bit flimsy though. Almost as if the Author had run out of ideas so ended it with the first thing she thought of.

Not my favourite book including dragons, but still an amusing read.

My rating:- 3/5

Moving

Moving is a tiring business. But i feel its rewarding too. Its a time for new starts, clearing out rubbish and having a really good tidy up. Or at least it normally is.

I am Having a problem clearing rubbish out at the moment. I have lots of items for sale on Facebook on a local sale page, some of it has gone but i have a lot more to go. I don't want to take it with me when i move, but at the same time i also don't want to give it all away for nothing as some of it is worth some money at least, i may not be much but its still something.

This move has been a quick one, i looked at the house less than 2 weeks ago and am picking the keys up on Friday!!! Then Sat I'm at a craft fair and Sunday I'm hosting my best friends 30th birthday BBQ in the garden at my new house. There won't be much there but we're moving the most important things in on Friday and Saturday night.

I never do things by halves. My last event for the museum is on Thursday night, plus the move and the BBQ and then no sooner will i have moved i then have my daughters 10th birthday party. At least that is in a hall, so the fact that the house is covered in boxes won't matter.

I have a few surprises for both the children and i can't wait to see their faces. They are going to be so happy and as a family things are going to change quite a lot with this move.

All i can do is keep packing and get the next 2 weeks over with. Then we can star tot get settled into a new routine, and it definitely will be a new routine.

30 facts challenge

My best friend is turning 30 this year and completed a 30 facts blog, she has in turn challenged her friends to do the same, so here goes my attempt.

1. My short term memory is very poor due to my Fibromyalgia. This causes many problems with me saying- i did say "Blah, blah, blah..." or "No you never said or did such and such". It doesn't even help to write things down because i forget to do that too.
2. I have moved 29 times in my 35 years. and it will very soon be 30!
3. I hate tidying up and cleaning at home, but have no problem doing it for someone else.
4. This like this are very hard for me as i never feel i have anything interesting for other people to want to know about.
5. I love antique fabric in any form.
6. I love having friends and family over for dinner and cooking huge meals.
7. I would love to be an events organiser (not just voluntary as i am currently), but currently my health won't allow it.
8. I am seriously independent and feel guilty about having to ask anyone for help. To the extent that i will push myself to breaking point and get told off by my mum for being so stubborn.
9. I try to live my life with no regrets. I may make mistakes but i will apologise and try to learn from them and move on. Life is for living and enjoying, not for looking back and wishing you had done things differently.
10. My pet hate is paperwork. i have piles of it in far too many places around my house, to the extent that i can't find anything. I know i need to be more organised, but never seem to be able to get there.
11. I think the Internet is a time waster, yet i am completely hooked. Particularly on Facebook.
12. I am an only child.
13. I am really enjoying and getting into the spirit of the Olympics this year, so are my children. This is a first for me as i am not a person who watches any sport on the tv. I watch my children at their clubs and that is it.
14. I lose interest in things quickly once i get bored with them.
15. My biggest weakness is craft things. I buy them with a view to making whatever they are for and more often than not i don't get round to doing anything with them.
16. When i started this blog it was with an aim of making a daily record of my interests and activities, it started well and then it all slipped and the posts became less and less. I am aiming to change that. So much is happening at the moment i would love to record it all.
17. I can't handle the cold or too much heat. I don't like wind either. I am very fussy about what weather i like, and living in the UK i never seem to get the weather i love.
18. I love driving on my own with my favourite cd on and singing really loudly.
19. I recently had my first singing lesson, i will be having more once the children are back at school after the holidays.
20. I have been called an army brat in the past. My dad was in the army for 20 years and i am very proud of this.
21. I spent much of my former years living in Belgium, i loved this country and the people there. The education was superior to ours here and there are still things i miss about being there.
22. As a child i used to play the clarinet for a few years, something i had to give up when moving back over here.
23. I am an incurable romantic, i love happy endings and love stories.
24. I should be finishing off a Patchwork Quilt or packing for my move instead of writing this!
25. When visiting the beach i can never leave until i have found at least one stone with a hole through it. It doesn't matter how large or small it is (as long as it can be brought home). This is something my ex-husband started when he told me of how they used to be used in Celtic times and since then i always look for them, i have a very large collection on them.
26. for the 1st time ever i have managed to keep a big secret from my children for over 3 months now. There have been many times when i or other people have almost let it slip, but luckily no-one and particularly i haven't. Not long to keep it for now either. Thankfully, as i'm getting very excited about seeing their reaction.
27. I can't drink or read a book or magazine in the bath. Lots of people have told me how relaxing it it, but i feel sick drinking anything (soft or alcoholic) and can't hold my arms up long enough to keep my arms out of the water.
28. I have always hated dark chocolate.
29. I love crystals, depending on the time, my mood, and what is going on i use them for support and healing.
30. I have doing a home study course on Indian Head Massage for the last 5 years and still haven't completed it- proving my fact earlier about my interests shifting when i get bored. I still really enjoy it though, i just never get round to sending of for my last exam.

Hopefully you haven't fallen asleep during that and maybe this has given inspiration in some form or another.
feel free to ask question or make comments, i always read and respond to them. Good luck with your 30 facts challenge.
